CHARLES J. FOSCHINI
SENIOR MANAGING DIRECTOR, BERKADIA, MIAMI
Berkadia, a joint venture of Berkshire Hathaway and Jeffries Financial Group, offers a suite of services to multifamily and commercial property owners. The company employs nearly 3,000 worldwide. Foschini joined Berkadia in 2016 after 20 years as a perennial top producer at CBRE and has been involved in the sale and financing of properties totaling more than $25 billion. He’s active at the University of Miami in several board positions, routinely mentors students in the business school and in the M-RED program, and recently funded a scholarship to “pay it forward for the next generation of students interested in a career in commercial real estate.”
EDUCATION: University of Miami (BBA, MBA and JD)
FIRST JOB: I was a lifeguard in the lakes and community pools of New Jersey, where I grew up.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: I would like to be a photojournalist: to get paid to travel the world, witness and document firsthand the strongest and weakest moments of humanity and record them as part of our world’s history.
MENTEE IMPACT: I mentored an undergraduate who was intrigued that I held both an MBA and a JD. Years later I attended an event at the University of Miami Law School, and she informed me that she too had become a JD/MBA. Last time we caught up, she was a successful business owner and continues to use her education creatively.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: I am an avid fly fisherman and journeyman photographer. Despite a day job financing urban assets, I am most happy off the grid in the wildest places left to explore.
