Rood, a member of the Florida Council of 100 and U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas from 2004 to 2007, founded Vestcor in 1983, growing the company into one of Florida’s largest developers of multifamily communities. Vestcor has formed 102 partnerships investing in land, apartments, new multifamily developments, condominiums, student communities and retirement communities. Rood has also developed a tuition-free charter school, Jacksonville Classical Academy. He and his wife are beekeepers.
